Which document formats are supported?+
You can convert between Markdown, HTML, Word (DOCX), OpenDocument (ODT), EPUB, plain text, LaTeX, reStructuredText, Org Mode, and AsciiDoc. The input format is detected automatically from the file extension and can be adjusted.
Can I convert documents to or from PDF?+
PDF output requires an external LaTeX engine, which cannot run inside the browser. For PDF-related tasks, use our dedicated PDF tools instead — for example PDF to Word, Merge PDF, Split PDF, and Compress PDF.
Is my document uploaded to a server?+
No. Conversion runs locally in your browser using Pandoc WebAssembly. Your documents never leave your device.
Why did some formatting change after conversion?+
Pandoc preserves the structure of a document — headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, and links — but not pixel-perfect layout. Very complex tables may lose some styling during conversion.
Why is the first conversion slow?+
The first time you convert, the Pandoc engine (about 58 MB) is downloaded to your browser and cached. After that, conversions are instant.
