What is an ICO Converter?
An ICO Converter turns ordinary images into multi-size ICO files for Windows and browsers, and can also restore ICO frames back into PNG images. An ICO is essentially "one file holding many pictures": small frames serve taskbars and browser tabs, while the 256×256 frame serves large icon views.
All conversion happens locally in your browser — images are never uploaded to any server.
How to Convert an Image to ICO
Pick a PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF image, check the sizes you need (16/32/48 for a website favicon, the full 16–256 set for Windows) and generate. Every size is independently resampled at its target dimensions instead of being scaled down as a whole, so even tiny icons stay crisp.
Rename the exported file to favicon.ico and place it in your site root — browsers and Windows will recognize it automatically.
Scaling and Encoding Options
For non-square images choose "Fit" (keeps the ratio, transparent padding) or "Fill" (keeps the ratio, center crop). The encoding option controls how each frame is stored: in Auto mode the 256×256 frame is PNG and the rest are BMP for the best compatibility. If an old program refuses PNG frames, switch to "All BMP".
How to Extract Images from an ICO
After uploading an .ico file, every frame is listed with its original size and encoding and can be downloaded as a PNG. "Repack as ICO" reassembles the extracted frames into a single ICO at their original sizes — for example, to turn PNG frames into BMP frames that legacy programs can read.
